My Future (cover) - Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish released a new song recently and I've been loving the jazzy/RnB chord progressions and had to do a cover. Billie as an artist has been exhibiting so much change and has evolved into such a mature artist. I was happy to hear something this upbeat from her and I wanted to do my own lil take! I decided to film a music video in my backyard and played around with some editing (which is not my strong suit but I tried my best...). ENJOY!!!!

Run (cover) - Joji

I decided to cover the latest and (in my opinion) greatest Joji song thus far. I think Joji as an artist has evolved so much since his time as pink guy and I've always admired him for that. I loved this song in particular and felt immediately that I needed to cover it the second the opening guitar part started. It felt inspired by all the old moody rock ballads (especially Metallica in particular) which drew me in given that I am a rather large fan of Metallica. I tried to however spice it up a bit with some Spanish guitar and some balkan ornamentations and I produced all the background instrumentals to create a mood that felt more like myself. I hope you all enjoy and I highly encourage you to listen to the original version!

Blackbird (cover) - Beatles

“Blackbird” was released in 1968. It was the year that MLK was assassinated, police riots broke out during the Democratic Convention in Chicago and the nation was in a state of total upheaval. I wanted to sing it to show my support and solidarity with the protests happening around the country right now. But also, as a promise to myself and the black voices who have been singing protests songs and doing social justice work long before I was born, that I will dedicate myself to doing the work to fight racism. As a white woman with inherent privilege, I will not look away, go numb or continue to stay ignorant to the issues black and brown people face every single day. I promise to use my privilege to lift up grass roots organizers and movements, to donate to organizations that need it and to continue educating myself on what it means to be actively anti-racist. Music has always been my way of making sense of things and I cannot listen to Nina Simone and Billy Holiday without recognizing the injustice they are singing about.
